Peter DeWitt
Peter is a husband to Megan, and a father to Peter (III), Andrew, and David. His background is in education, having served first as a science teacher and later as an assistant principal for his high school. Peter’s wife, Megan, led him to the Lord while they were both in college at Ohio State, a time where Peter mostly rock climbed and sometimes studied. Peter has since enjoyed freedom after freedom in the Lord as he has experienced more and more of God’s great love for him. One of Peter’s passions in life is speaking encouragement to the body of Christ. Whether with a couple in the DeWitt’s living room or from the pulpit, Peter loves to encourage, exhort, and equip his brothers and sisters in Christ! In addition to serving as an associate pastor at Agathos, Peter continues to work in education as a consultant for schools in Columbus and Ohio. Peter and Megan view their ministry as a joint effort and also enjoy woodworking together in their well-equipped home woodshop.

The only terms you can come to God on are His terms - which is Him giving love to you. It’s so counter-intuitive. We think we’ve got to do something for God but He’s saying “let Me do for you.”

Intro
The Flesh Profits Nothing
Jesus said "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.” (Jn. 6:63) Focusing on your performance, your strength, your might, your ability, what you’ve done, and your obedience - profits nothing! Setting your mind on your flesh will not produce righteousness before God because by works of the law NO flesh will be justified. (Rom. 3:20) Similarly, setting your mind on your obedience will not even produce true righteous living because it is actually through walking by the Spirit - setting your mind on His performance, His obedience, and what He has accomplished on our behalf - that we will not gratify the desires of the flesh. (Gal. 5:16) We cannot please God apart from faith (Heb. 11:6) and those who walk by the flesh cannot please God (Rom. 8:8). Said plainly, those who are in the flesh cannot walk in faith! Focusing on the flesh simply sabotages faith. Just as Jesus said "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing.”
Bold Faith!
Righteousness leads to faith and releases boldness! The goal of this message is to take the listener or reader from insecurity —> confidence and/or from confidence —> BOLD faith! Boldness (bold faith) is not something we put on, but instead it comes from taking something off. Boldness is the manifestation of NO condemnation! So what’s the solution to condemnation? Listen to this message and hear for yourself!
“What do you want Me to do for you?” & Ministry of Righteousness
Jesus asked blind Bartimaeus "what do you want Me to do for you?" Faith asks. If you are not ASKING you are not "faith-ing." Jesus said that we will ask and receive from our place of conneciton with Him (John 15:7-11) and that continual process of asking and recieving will make our joy full. We need to be careful that we don't get lulled into eating the fruit of last season's asking without sowing the seeds of faith for the next harvest of righteousness in our life!
Condemnation causes us to lose our confidence before God. 1 John 3 says that if our heart does not condmen us we have confidence before God and whatever we ask we receive from Him. The message of no condemnation is opposed by the accuser of the breathren who inverts the actual ministry of the Holy Spirit which Jesus made clear in John 16:7-11. The reality is the ministry of the Spirit is a ministry or righteousness! (2 Cor. 3:5-9). When you received the gift of eternal life (Rom. 6:23) you also received the gift of righteousness (Rom. 5:17) He became sin who knew no sin that you might become the righteousness of God in Him! (2 Cor. 5:21).
It's time to start asking again! Faith works by love - not just our love for others - but also our recognition of God's love for us and our right standing in Him! If you are in Christ, you are in perfect right standing (perfectly righteous) before God because the blood of His Son Jesus has cleansed you from ALL unrighteousness!
"So what do you want Me to do for you?" asks Jesus.
