Believe and Do! Brad tells us how to Walk in the Spirit.
Walking in the Spirit
When first born again, we want to know God's way, but still want to do our own thing. But, His Goodness leads us to change our mind. We say "Father, not my will, but Your Will and only Your Will be done." Seeing that all His plans for us are good, we realize it is wisdom to lay our life down before the Lord.
After a while, it becomes natural to walk by the Spirit, whereas it was previously natural to walk by the flesh. We walk by the Spirit by walking by the Word. And we walk by the Word by BELIEVING & DOING. We believe because we have heard the Word. This glory to glory transformation can happen very quickly by the renewing of our minds according to His Word.
When we learn to walk by the Spirit, we will look and feel like Jesus. Others will be drawn to us–the Christ in us! His words without His heart are lethal. But God reconciled us to Himself, not counting our trespasses against us. Now we have been given the ministry of reconciliation.
The heart of God will blow our minds. Peace with Him surpasses all understanding. We are kind all the time, we are patient beyond comprehension, we walk in complete and total peace at ALL times, we walk in complete confidence, pure love, and in absolute right standing with the Father. We believe in people. Our love is always flowing. We always care about the other person and their well-being; we desire more to lift them up than to lift ourselves up. Any time we don't act like that, we are just operating out of the flesh, not the real us.
We are learning to Walk by the Spirit so that we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. Because we now know that we have been made just like Jesus, the more we look at Him, the more we realize who we are. The more we realize who we are, the more we look like Him. This is not our doing, but the work of the Lord within us.
God's Word is His Will, and His Will is more effective than our will and its power. Let His Word do the Work! Our part is to make a decision (exercise our will) to Walk by the Spirit–to invite the Spirit to do the work of transforming us! Invite the Holy Spirit by getting His Word on the inside of you. This will create BELIEVING! Expedite the transformation process even further by then DOING the Word when life presents you with situations that may suggest to our flesh a response counter to the Word.
Part 13
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the believer's next step in his walk with the Spirit.
